Primary Training (ages 3 - 6+)
The Montessori Institute of Atlanta is pleased to announce our upcoming Primary training led by Ms. Mary Raudonis Loew. This course is designed to prepare the adult to guide children ages 3-6 years of age in a Montessori Primary environment. The course will be held at the campus of Northwoods Montessori School in Atlanta.
MIA is under new board leadership and is honored to welcome Ms. Lilian Bryan, MIA Founder Emeritus and AMI Senior Trainer, in support of providing Primary training in Atlanta.
The training will encompass Dr. Maria Montessori’s educational theory and practice for children in the Primary level. Click here to read more about the theory and practice covered in the training. Through direct instruction, practice teaching, and observation, the adult learns to become the important link between the children and their physical and social surroundings. The internationally recognized AMI Primary Diploma is awarded upon satisfactory completion of the course and examinations.

Mary Raudonis Loew, AMI Senior Trainer
Mary Raudonis Loew is a renowned trainer in the AMI Montessori community. She completed her Primary training with the Washington Montessori Institute in 1964. She holds a BA from Goddard College with a focus in creative writing, education, and psychology. Mary has spent years in the classroom with children ages 3-6 and 6-9, including working in underserved communities in Atlanta, Cleveland, and Dallas. She was the Director of AMI Training at the Indigenous Montessori Institute in Albuquerque. She has served as Head of School and is the founder of several schools in Atlanta and Charleston. She is an advisor to several Montessori associations, has served on various boards, and is a mentor to many.
Mary is one of the founders of the Montessori Institute of Atlanta in 1968, recognizing the need for Montessori teachers in the growing Montessori community in the southeast United States. She became a Primary trainer in 1972 under the direction of Margaret E. Stephenson and is now a highly regarded Senior Trainer. She has trained Montessori teachers for four decades, bringing her unique wit and wisdom to every course she leads. Mary has been invited to give guest lectures around the world, aligning with her mission to bring Montessori education to as many children as she can reach through her work in preparing adults. Mary lives with her husband in Garland, TX and enjoys creative writing and poetry in her free time.

Tuition: $12,500
Application Fee: $150 - Due May 1, 2022 ($200 after May 1). Application fee is non-refundable
Exam Fee: $400
AMI Membership: $198
MACTE Fee: $200
Additional costs vary by trainee and include reference album construction and material making.
A non-refundable deposit of $ 500 is required upon acceptance to the course, to be applied to tuition
